The Amazing Story Of Moyinoluwa & How She Became The First Female Regent Ruler In Ibulesoro Kingdom, Ondo State

In the Yoruba land, crowning a woman as regent is considered impossible but for the people of Ibulesoro, it is a different case.

A woman can be crowned as the regent to the throne. In fact, even if the king that passed away had a son, it remains a matter of the decision taken by the oracles on who should be the next king, until then a regent must ascend the throne.

The gender of the regent is, however, not relevant to the oracles and the people of Ibulesoro.

A regent is a person appointed to govern a state temporarily because the regnant monarch is a minor, is absent, abdicated the throne, is incapacitated or dead, or unable to discharge the powers and duties of the monarchy.

Ibulesoro is a town in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state. Not less than 2 years ago, their king, Oba Joseph Fowole passed away, and the kingmakers were left with the decision to select his successor.

Before Oba Joseph passed away, he had two wives. The first wife bore him his first son, while the second wife bore him his first daughter, Moyinoluwa Olubunmi Falowo.

Normally, people expected that the son would be the next king, but the kingmakers had to consult the oracle to be sure of who should be made king.

Since it is not a taboo for a woman to be the regent in Ibulesoro, Moyinoluwa was chosen by the Oracle as the regent to the throne while the kingmakers work towards installing the right candidate as the next king of Ibulesoro.

Moyinoluwa was just a 24-year-old crowned princess who graduated from Ondo State University of science and technology, Okitipupa, where she studied Microbiology before she was made the regent of Ibulesoro.

Close sources to the female regent, as reported by the Sun, claimed that despite the fact that Moyinoluwa is now the regent of Ibulesoro, she still maintains her relationship with God.

She does not like fetish things and does not practice them either. In the history of Ibulesoro, Moyinoluwa is the first female regent in the kingdom.

Moyinoluwa, according to sources, is also an active participant of the National Youth Council in Ifedore Local Government of Ondo.
