Before his big breakout in the music industry with Zanku in 2019, Zlatan has come a long way in the music industry and that explains why he exert a lot energy and emotions in that project.
Growing from a label signee to a label boss and one of the most sought-after street artiste in Nigeria for the past 3years, there is no doubt that Zlatan has what it takes to grow even bigger.
While resting from the pressure of blowing big and the emotions of dreams coming through, Zlatan is now all set to deliver a body of work reflecting 100% of his cruise, grateful and loving self. Exactly what his new album “Resan” reflects.

ZLATAN – RESAN ALBUM REVIEW
Track 1 – That Guy
The opening record on the album is “That Guy“, a song that reflects all that Zlatan wanted in his life while also thanking God for how far he has come.
You’d agree that Zlatan went through a lot before getting the big break. Obviously, God crowned his effort but if you imagine how it feels when blown artiste unblow, you will understand every single line in that song.
“Many people don try, many people don fail
I no wan be that guy
If you sabi law of gravity, you no go wan gapa”.
Track 2 – Alubarika
This song features Buju who spiced up Zlatan‘s street melody with his velvet voice. The song which had been previously released off the album is a mid-tempo tune themed on grace.
“Alubarika” is conscious music that sets in the mood of thanking God for the grace.
Track 3 – Level
From Track 1 to this particular track, it’s noticeable that Zlatan is building momentum and consciously setting the mood in this body of work.
“That Guy” and “Alubarika” are both inspirational vibe meant to cool your mind for a tempo switch in track 3.
“Level” is a groovy love song delivered on a well-patterned melodious beat.
This is one of the songs on the album that shows how much Zlatan has improved.
Track 4 – Shakur Ft. Ms Banks
Like the popular slang on the street right now “Trap La n Je“, Zlatan went trap on this song and he got it really right as he features female rapper, Ms Banks.
“Shakur” may not turn out to be a big hit off the album but it’s a good shot at trap music by Zlatan.
Track 5 – Polongo Ft. Bella Shmurda
Bringing back the memories of Ajegunle superstars Danfo Drivers in the 90s, Zlatan teams up with Bella Shmurda on this jam “Polongo“. This is a cool sample of Danfo Driver’s song “Kpolongo” where Zlatan and Bella Shmurda are sounding like revised versions of late Mad Melon and Mountain Black.
This particular track introduced a special kind of dynamics to the album. After doing trap on “Shakur” this is another reflection of the fact that Zlatan can sing anyhow he pleases and it will still make sense. That’s versatility.
Track 6 – Egun
This song started with the regular Zlatan rap everyone is used to until it gets to the middle where the chorus explains the message in the song to make it really interesting. “Egun” talks about pretense in courtship and how people begin to show their real colour after marriage.
When a happy courtship didn’t lead to a happy marriage that’s when you know you have carried the bone of another person’s bone (“Eguneleegun”).
Track 7 – One Life
“One Life” is a story of a cruise man living a life of enjoyment. The “Obi Chikolobi Obi” nursery rhyme used in the song made it so interesting.
Track 8 – Money Ft. Davido
Why is everyone featuring Davido on money-titled songs?
Well, it’s understandable, only money man can talk money and it will make sense.
This song makes mad sense because while Zlatan with humble beginnings was doing motivating lines, Davido‘s verse explained what it means for you to have money since you were born.
Track 9 – Ale Yi
The track got released in build-up to the album release and it still remains one of the top songs on the album.
Track 10 – Fada Ft. Phyno, Flavour
In a bid to make the album appeal to music lovers in the Eastern part of Nigeria, Zlatan’s decision to engage Phyno and Flavour on this track was thoughtful. Zlatan started the song himself and he was able to flow flawlessly on the beat before Phyno and Flavour did justice.
A perfect party jam for Igbo people this December.
Track 11 – Energy Ft. Rayvanny, Sho Madjozi
Zlatan has a good track record of making hits with artistes from other parts of Africa. He did it with Sarkodie and on this track, he’s got Tanzanian act, Rayvanny, and South African act, Sho Madjozi.
The trio produced a vibe that has the potential of becoming a monster hit across Africa. This collaboration produced the kind of “Energy” expected.
Track 12 – See Me So
A mid-tempo highlife life jam that got Zlatan to express his love and insecurity to a girl. Average song but perfect for wrapping up this beautiful project.
Overall Thoughts On The Album
Zlatan has really outdone himself on this album. Going the extra miles to trap, work with Phyno and Flavour, work with Sho Madjozi and Rayvanny, the re-creation of Danfo Drivers‘ song among others are evidence that Zlatan put in serious work in preparation of this “Resan” album.
Also, it is evident that Zlatan redefined himself on this album. First, he didn’t overwhelm songs on this album with his funny backup vocals as usual.
Secondly, Zlatan of one or two years ago won’t do a song without taking shots at haters. On this album, he has obviously re-invented himself into a better lyricist.
Altogether, “Resan” is an impressive body of work and we will rate it 8/10.
