Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left Cristiano Ronaldo in shock when the Norwegian decided to praise his Manchester United players immediately after the shocking 2-1 defeat to Young Boy in the Champions League earlier in the season, according to The Sunday Times.
Solskjaer was sacked last Sunday following a 4-1 defeat to lowly rated Watford and that brought the end of his reign at Old Trafford.
Former assistant coach Michael Carrick was handed caretaker role at Old Trafford pending the announcement of Ralf Rangnick who is all but set to move to United.
Apart from the defeat to Young Boys, United were beaten by Aston Villa, Leicester City, Manchester City, Liverpool, and struggled to get results against Atalanta and Villarreal.
Despite Man United’s struggles, Ronaldo has continued to score some vital goals for the Red Devils, netting ten times in 14 appearances since his return to OldTrafford.
But United’s drop in standard like it was during Ronaldo’s first stint at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson alarmed the Portugal international and the newspaper reports that the former Real Madrid star challenged Solskjaer after the team were beaten 2-1 by Young Boys back in September.
The report claims that Solskjaer had told United’s players that he “liked the way they played” and was “really happy” with their attitude, but the Portugal captain was “bemused” by the manager’s feedback to the team and pointed out that the performance was “awful.”
After Solskjaer’s sack, United were able to bounce back with a win over Villarreal in the Champions League but they face another tough test this Sunday as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face league leaders, Chelsea.

World Cup: De Bruyne, Hazard Clash In Dressing Room After Shock Morocco Defeat
A number of Belgium players were involved in a dressing bust-up after their shock 2-0 defeat to Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.
According to RTL Sport, Kevin de Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen, and captain Eden Hazard clashed after the match.
Tensions were already high after De Bruyne told reporters before the game that the team was “probably too old” to win the trophy.
Those tensions now appear to have reached boiling point, as the three players let their tempers erupt following the loss.
It is understood that De Bruyne, Hazard and Vertonghen had to be separated by Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku.
The emotionally-charged changing room could prove disastrous ahead of their final group stage fixture against Croatia.

World Cup: Benzema To Return To France Squad
Karim Benzema could make a surprising return to the France squad at the 2022 World Cup.
The 34-year-old had initially been ruled out through injury.
Benzema was expected to miss the entire tournament with a thigh problem.
France head coach, Didier Deschamps, opted not to call up a replacement and has continued with Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Giroud, Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann, Kingsley Coman and Marcus Thuram.
However, RMC Sport claims that Benzema could still return to the France setup as he returns to full training this week at Real Madrid.
Benzema could be fit enough to take part in the knockout stages of the World Cup.
FIFA rules permit players to return to their squads if they recover from injury if they had initially been named in the tournament squad before being ruled out.Follow Us On Social Media 👇
