Davido Reveals What His Dad Did To Him When He Dumped School For Music

Star musician Davido has opened up on how his father reacted after he dumped school to pursue a music career.

According to the multiple-award-winning singer, his dad, Adedeji Adeleke went as far as attempting to shut down shows where he knows he’ll be performing and sending Police after him to drag him back to school.

He explained that his dad wasn’t totally against the idea of music or singing but wanted him to get a degree before venturing into music if he still so wishes but because he left school to pursue a career in music, his dad went all out to drag him back to school.

Davido spoke during a recent interview with an American-based podcast which was published on Wednesday.

He said:

“I wasn’t in school. I was facing music full time and over the years, he found out that I wasn’t in school and there was a whole lot of drama.

“I left school. I went back to the city and then my dad was chasing me with the police.

“Yes, they (Police) were coming after me to go back to school.

Any show he (my dad) saw me on, on a flier or whatever, he was shutting the show down,” Davido added.

He explained that despite the initial clash and disagreement, he has gotten an academic degree now and still doing well in music.

“I moved back to Nigeria and then, he wanted me to go back to school.

Because he was like, ‘after school, you can go back to do the music and bla blah blah. Just get your degree first’ — which I’ve gotten. Thanks to God,” he said.

The disclosed that the song ‘Dami Duro’ marked a turning point in his musical career, going on to be a hit song.

He added that it was at that point that his dad agreed a deal for him to do music and attend shows when he’s not occupied by schoolwork.

“Then I dropped this one song called Dami Duro and the song became so big that even the president was singing it. Even people my dad couldn’t even get to, was singing it.”

“After two-three years, I got a degree in business management and music,” Davido said.

I Want To Employ Someone Who Will Greet And Give People Handshakes On My Behalf – Timaya

Being a celebrity comes with its challenges, which includes constantly having to greet people everywhere you go.

As a celebrity, if you choose not to acknowledge your fans, many of them will reach out to salute you once you’re spotted.

Addressing the loads of greetings delivered daily, Nigerian dancehall musician Timaya has devised a means that might serve as an alternative when executed.

Timaya disclosed he is ready to employ a personal greeter who will greet and give handshakes to people for him. “I want to employ someone that will be in charge of greeting people on my behalf and will also be giving handshakes,” he wrote.

The ‘Sanko’ crooner didn’t have to explain why he wanted to get an employee to do the greeting job before his followers on Twitter deduced he greets many people daily because of his celebrity status.

Timaya’s faithful fans have been submitting their applications through his comment section since he shared the post on Twitter.

A fan, @royal_wohu, replied the musician:

“Greeting people is in our lineage, my forefathers did the job, my grandfather did same job, my father also did the job before he died and I wish to do same. Papi chulo I wish you will consider my request so I can make you proud and also make my forefathers proud.”

Another fan shared a picture of his palm, and wrote, “Sir, this is how big my hand is. l can give firm handshakes and I am a nice person. I am 188 meters tall (about 6’2 ft). I am also a huge fan of your music and it will be my pleasure working for you, Thank you sir.”

The General Overseer, Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere has gifted free home to homeless veteran Nollywood actor, Kenneth Jideofor, popularly known as Aguba.

Actor Aguba has been homeless for a while and roaming around the streets in Enugu.

His story went viral online and people showed interest in helping him including OPM pastor, Chibuzor Chinyere.

In a new video making the rounds on social media, Apostle Chibuzor has now given him a house with free food for as long as he wants to live. The apostle also promised to marry a wife for him and pay the bride price of the woman including the sponsorship of the wedding.

The caption read, “The veteran Nigerian actor Kenneth Aguba who was recently found homeless has been found by the General Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere.

“He has been given accommodation at one of the OPM free estates. He is now at the OPM free hospital for medical checkup. God is great.”
