Ayodeji Balogun (Aka Wizkid) is currently one of the top artistes in Africa.
He has achieved a lot in the Nigerian music industry. His achievements are not limited to his home country alone, Wizkid has infected the whole world with his music, giving him an edge on the international stage more than any other Nigerian artiste.
I know Burna Boy may come to mind when discussing the international recognition, but Wizkid is another level of sensation entirely. Things just keep getting better for this 31 years old artiste.
In the past few weeks, Wizkid has been in the headlines for different reasons, all good ones.
All these could be generally attributed to his fourth studio album, “Made In Lagos”, a music project he dropped in October 2020.
The album was a refined recipe of music that integrated the home culture with an international audience. The album made a lot of great records on all music streaming platforms.
Wizkid went further to release the Deluxe edition of the album on the 27th of August 2021.
The deluxe edition added extra flavour to the project as the artiste featured both local and international artistes on the project.
Today, will be reviewing the 3 amazing feats of Wizkid in the past few weeks.
Some of these feats are majorly credited to the brilliance of his fourth studio album.
1. Grammy Nomination
Grammy nomination is not a new thing for Wizkid. However, this time, it is majorly on one of his biggest projects ever.
The “Made In Lagos” album was an internationally appealing project. It performed brilliantly after it release and earned a spot at the Grammy nomination list.
The album got nominated at the 64th Grammy Awards ceremony for Best Global Music Album, which will come up in January 2022.
2. 02 Arena
Wizkid recently ended his 3 -day Made in Lagos concert, which he held in London.
The event which started on the 28th of November and ended on the 1st of December took place at the 02 Arena.
The 02 Arena is one of the places where the popularity and success of an international artiste are tested.
Undoubtedly, Wizkid‘s popularity and success have been clearly expressed during the concert.
Wizkid was reported to have made over 52 billion naira from the concert after he sold all his tickets out in just a few hours.
3. Mobo Awards (Most awarded African Act)
For a Nigerian artiste to win the MOBO awards, there must be an item in his or her music that have significantly drawn the interest of British international music lovers.
The 2021 Music of Black Origin, also known as the MOBOs went down at the Coventry Building Society Arena, U.K., and on YouTube on Sunday night.
Wizkid made history as the most awarded African act in history after winning the Best International Act and Best African Act awards.
These two new awards make it a total of five for Wizkid at the MOBO Awards.
The Nigerian artiste was nominated in the Best African Music Act of the year category alongside artistes like Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Ckay, Davido, King Promise, NSG, Rema, Tems, and Tiwa Savage.
